I’ll be grabbing a Z6 (most likely) and I was wondering if between now and when the review was posted if you had time to test in concert settings. Coming from a D7100, how should the Z6/Z7 handle? Live music and portraits (boudoir, engagements/weddings and ports) are my main focus.

I have only had hands-on with the Z 6, no real-world shooting. For pure high ISO performance, the Z 6 should be an extremely good camera, I have no doubt. I like the resolution of the Z 7 for a couple reasons — 1) the high ISO performance is already very good and 2) My images are used for commercial purposes and printed large, so I personally I like having more resolution if it’s an option. But one can’t really go wrong with either body. The Z 6 will no doubt be an amazing camera for event work.

Everything that I read points to the Z 6 being better in low light/high ISO situations, much like the D750 being better than other Nikons under the same circumstances. Of course this may not be as much of concern in brightly lit concerts, but what about smaller/darker venues? I am currently shooting with the D750 and thinking of adding a Z 6 or Z 7 but both have features that I like. You’r right about these being tools but are there particular reasons you choose the Z 7 over the Z 6? Thanks for your reply.

Looking forward to using this as travel camera, the cabin luggage restrictions almost made it impossible to take the d3 or d600 on a short city break.
