Thank you kindly for the valuable info and comments, Todd!
Much to consider. I believe I’m in a somewhat unique/special circumstance with this opportunity. The band is (by album sales/airplay metrics) massive and they control their publishing rights. In fact, they control everything and my invite is personal as well as professional. I’m unaware of them using any previous tour photographers… and they only tour about once a decade. lol
A world tour for sure spanning months (in sections/runs).

THANK YOU for the rate range… it gives me something to work with and consider.

You rock!
Michael

Hey Michael. Tour pay is tricky as you have huge artists paying sometimes little, and then mid-sized acts (2000-5000 capacity theaters) paying very good rates. Personally, I’d be looking for a day rate of at least $700-1200 to start, but there are so many factors. How long is the tour? What’s the opportunity cost of the other work/jobs you’re missing out on? What’s the size of the artist? What rights are you granting them for the use of the images?

I’m unsure where to ask this question, but I’ve recently been asked out as a tour photographer for a major act sometime this year (new album in the works now). I’ve zero idea where to look for what I should be getting paid. Any help or advice would be VERY appreciated! Thanks for all you do with this site. Michael Edmonds
